Members of E&E Architects were involved in this scheme. This Victorian school building, close to Queen’s Tennis Club, used for several years by Holborn College, has been converted back into a school.

The Main Building of the new Prep School consists of classrooms for Years Three to Eight, 3 science laboratories, music rooms, separate Art and Design, and Technology facilities, a fully-equipped IT suite as well as a spacious, purpose-built library and a large assembly hall.

The laboratories have small innovative freestanding service columns, an idea which has been developed by the practice using Koettermann products. This allows us to freely move desks and provides a very flexible classroom layout.

A new lift has been fitted and the building has been altered to comply with the latest DDA requirements. A child-friendly and cheerful colour scheme has been developed with different colours on each of the three floors in the Main Building to make orientation easier.

The development also included converting the former College Administration building into a Kitchen and Dining Room, as well as converting the School-keeper’s Cottage into the Bursary.

A Sports Hall, which can also be used as a venue for the performing arts, is planned for 2009.
